Lily Cierra (Québec, Canada) est une artiste en arts visuels. Sa pratique lui permet d’explorer la présence de l’Ombre comme la métaphore de la résilience. Elle s’intéresse aux rapports relationnels et socioaffectifs de l’être végétal ou humain, au développement de l’individu ainsi qu’aux traces laissées par la mémoire. Son processus de création se compose de pistes exploratoires en nature et se déploie à travers plusieurs médiums et techniques : dessin - peinture - installation

Elle est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en arts visuels et poursuit des études en psychologie du développement. Son processus de création se (dé)compose parmi des pistes exploratoires en nature et dans l'affect. Elle s'exprime à travers le dessin et l'installation.

Ses oeuvres ont été présentées lors d’expositions, d’évènements artistiques et culturels, au Québec, notamment dans le cadre de l’évènement Les Fenêtres qui parlent (2022), du Festival de théâtre de l’Université Laval (2022) et bientôt, au festival Showfrette – Weekend en lumière à Beloeil (2023).

Présentement, son exposition individuelle intitulée «Shadows work» est présentée au Centre d’exposition Léo-Ayotte, Shawinigan, du 23 février au 2 avril 2023.

Lily Cierra (Quebec, Canada) is a visual artist. Her practice in contemporary art allows her to explore the presence of the shadow as a metaphor for resilience. She is interested in the relational and socioaffective relationships inhabiting living beings. She finds inspiration in our individual development as well as in the traces left our memory. Her creative process consists of exploratory paths in nature and unfolds through several mediums and techniques: drawing, painting, installation. Her works have been presented at individual and collective exhibitions, artistic and cultural events, in Quebec. Lily Cierra holds a bachelor's degree in visual arts. She also pursues some studies in developmental psychology.

Explorant visuellement et métaphoriquement le phénomène de l’Ombre, Lily Cierra pose son regard sur les êtres vivants et les reflets de leur identité.

L’empreinte de ses expériences se transpose à travers la densité de la peinture et du dessin. La matérialisation de l’absence du corps à travers le dessin opaque de l’ombre correspond, selon elle, à une trace picturale créant un lieu de passage où naît le sens.

Sa démarche apporte des réflexions sur la notion de communication, dont le langage non-verbal qui occupe l’espace visuel par la gestualité. Lily Cierra aborde la représentation picturale du corps à travers ses ombres. Sa série intitulée «Shadows work» permet d’observer l’existence des états d’âme invisibles à travers le corps complexe de l’être en mouvement.

Engageant la notion de résilience, Lily Cierra retrace les liens entre le développement de l’être et les échos émanant de son double immatériel. Les silhouettes dépeintes créent le dessin de la fragilité de la vie. Le tout se manifestant dans la continuité poétique de l’expérience sensible et transparente de son processus de création.

The imprint of her experiences is transposed through the density of painting and drawing. The materialization of the absence of the body through the opaque drawing of the shadow corresponds, according to her, to a pictorial trace creating a space where rebirth is experienced.

Her approach brings reflections on the notion of communication, including the language that occupies the visual space through gestures. Lily Cierra approaches the representation of the body through its shadows, where its states unfold in pictoriality. Her serie entitled “Shadows work” makes it possible to observe the existence of invisible states of mind through the complex body of the being in movement.

Engaging the notion of resilience, Lily Cierra traces the links between the development of being and the echoes emanating from its immaterial double. The depicted silhouettes create the drawing of the fragility of life. All manifesting in the poetic continuity of the sensitive and transparent experience of her creative process.

In the incessant crossing of the echo of temporality’s fragments, Lily Cierra digs into the harshness of appearances, where the shadow evokes the potential for action which is at the heart of her concept. She sporadically traces lived experience and entangles silhouettes that are born through light.
